Westgate Roof Terrace

Lovely evening at The Alchemist roof gardens at the Westgate Centre with lovely group of people! Sunset in the heatwave over the dreaming spires of Oxford. 2018 has been an epic summer that will long stick in the mind: heatwave up to 34°; England 4th in the World Cup; Wimbledon, Brexit and not forgetting the most important #LoveIsland  #thealchemist

Craobh Rua

Craobh Rua

Went to see this brilliant Irish Traditional Music Group at
The Pound Arts Centre in Corsham on 18th March 17, with R.
What a great evening of jigs, reels and other types of Irish Music
that can only be described in Gaelic. Great musicians and great Belfast humour! x #craobhrua

Perkelt

Was listening to my wonderful Perkelt CD today - Dowry of a Troll Woman.
Love this folk group that i happened to hear playing in Cornmarket Street in Oxford where i picked up their CD in 2013 They are from Czech Republic, I think...The female singer has an amazing raw, powerful voice which carries you to other times/places.
I like having this music playing in my shop or in my workshop. It conjures up outdoor festivals, gypsies, fire-eaters and good festival food and ale..

Evening village walk with birds tweeting away and everything in full bloom. Came across some stunning violet blue campanula's glowing from under some dark-green foliage. Beautiful they are - same colour as periwinkles but about 10 on one stem! They are campanula persicifolia and not the latifolia variety which has bell-shaped leaves.

I will check its flowers in July to make sure!
It is a late flowering tree and brings much comfort.
The evening air was alive with the sound of wood-pigeons and birds tweeting and the sun setting between the tall hedges. Bluebells and dandelions everywhere and tiny forget-me-knots.

Beltane 2014

Visited Avebury on the eve of Beltane. Not many folks about but turned a corner and there was the Archdruid of Avebury conducting a ritual for the setting sun. Sadly i could not face rising at 4.31 am to witness the sunrise but lucky are those that join the sunrise procession around the stones.
I was shown 'the Taurus stone' in the small circle near the stone chapel, (perfect gift for me, the Faery May Queen born on Beltane!)

Fairy Queen is reading 'The Crystal Cave'  ~ the story of the Wizard Merlin as he grows up in his father's court in the Welsh Hills. This is the first in the Merlin Trilogy by Mary Stewart.
Snuggled beneath the covers after midnight reading this magical tale by candlelight carries you away to an ancient time of intrigue, magick and sorcery!
